The Resting Nest is run by me, Kelly Curry, a local stay-at-home mom of five children, four of whom are in school full-time now. Like many parents, I've spent years navigating runny noses, fevers, lingering coughs, and upset tummies!
I also majored in child development, and spent my 20's as a childcare professional working in daycare settings and as a professional full-charge nanny. I later moved on to healthcare management and was a practice manager for a Hospitalist group until I had my second child and became a SAHM.
I became a foster parent with my husband, Adam, in 2014 after our first child was born. We have welcomed many wonderful kiddos into our home over the past decade.
This rich background has given me a deep understanding of children's emotional and physical needs - especially on days when they're not feeling their best.
I'm especially skilled at creating a calm, comforting environment and helping children feel understood and cared for. I also understand how stressful it can be for parents to leave a child who is under the weather. Clear communication, reassurance, and compassion for the whole family are central to how I provide care.
The Resting Nest exists because I know first hand how hard these days can be - and how much it helps to have someone you trust.

My past as an Experienced Childcare Provider
My work as a Foster Parent
During our foster parenting journey, I founded a facebook support group for other Chicago area foster parents. Last May, in recognition of National Foster Care Month, I wrote about it in our local paper and got to go on FOX and WGN Chicago local news to talk about it! Fostering has brought our family immeasurable joy, so it was really cool to share some of our journey.
